Much of Plainview was built during the building boom of the 1950s and 60s, and many of its split-levels, high ranches and colonials still have the kitchen they were built with: closed off from the living space, short on counter room, with soffits over the upper cabinets. A Recent Plainview Kitchen

In December 2025 we finished an open-plan kitchen in Plainview that opens straight into a vaulted family room. It has stained shaker cabinets with crown molding and matte black pulls, white quartz counters, a floor-to-ceiling pantry, a cabinet surround for the refrigerator and a peninsula with seating for four.

Permits for a Plainview Kitchen

Plainview is an unincorporated hamlet in the Town of Oyster Bay, so your building permit comes from the town, not a village. The Town of Oyster Bay requires a permit for any interior alteration, which covers almost every kitchen remodel. The only exception is purely cosmetic work that moves no plumbing, gas or wiring.
